3) The Group – What it is and what it is not ...

Here we present some essential, clarifying information in a simple and direct form. The following table serves to inform all interested parties about Recriar a História:

The Group is:

The Group is NOT:

An organization that intends to renew the medieval knightly values of service to society, translated to the twenty-first century, in the form of historical recreation and cultural activities.

A simple historical re-enacting group ...

H istorical recreation, put in this context of principles and values, functions as a whole. All aspects are interconnected, from the study of clothing, taking part in activities, to contributing new ideas and working for the benefit of the organization.

A "school of arms," "playing with swords on the weekend," "posing for photos" (like a movie star), training for mere exercise, or "simply socialising with friends"…

An organisation that is active “in the field”, travelling throughout Portugal , not for publicity, but in order to be a valuable instrument of culture and citizenship!

A closed and over-intellectualised group that meets occasionally for dinners, ceremonies and the like, with "honorary titles" for its members…

A secular and nonpartisan organisation.

A sect, political organisation, esoteric group or anything such ...

An organization for the whole family, which ends up being a "2nd family", always willing to help and never leaving anyone "by the wayside"!

A remote, elitist, restricted or prejudiced group.

A mutually supportive entity in which the individual works and develops to benefit the group.

Every man for himself without a true commitment to work and joint effort.

Always receptive to new ideas and with a willingness to continue learning, but always maintaining the high ideals of the group, in order to be of value to society.

Rigid, inward looking, lethargic ... and useless.
